It’s Already Been a Busy 2016 – Checkout Some of Our Favourite Basement Projects
This basement was one of our favourites. It’s a beautiful 1500 sq ft 9 foot ceiling walkout basement. While most clients need a lot of layout & decor help, this job was a breeze. Our clients knew exactly the look they were going for, what they needed this space to be…and how they wanted the space to flow.
We obviously had our hands involved with the planning, but it was great to work with very vision oriented clients.
This basement boasts a few key luxurious features. When completing any type of home renovation, spending your budget in the right places is very important. Not just for budget reason, but for resale. It’s realizing what features give you the biggest bang for your buck. In this case the “big ticket item” was a Basement Home Spa. This Basement Spa is a masterpiece! No expense was spared. From the patterned travertine on the floor and walls, the custom built shower with steam option, and sauna. This is for sure a room no one would want to leave. On Canadian cold winters….this room is put to good use!
But it’s also in the details. Notice you can’t see the toilet? Its hidden not only for privacy, but who wants to open a door and band, see the toilet.
You will also notice beautiful built in glass shelving. No detail was overlooked, yet everything was laid out in a practical way to maximize space.
Did you say Basement Bar?
This is another great area to increase budget. If done properly that is…
You will notice the spa is to the right of the “living area.’ Which gave us a great opportunity to let the beautiful Picasso Travertine flooring flow through into the bar area. Not only is this absolutely a luxurious basement upgrade. It allows both spaces to mesh into one another, and that bold dark brown wall just makes that floor pop!
For a 1500 sq ft basement, the bar is very modest. This is where clients feel they “need” something over-sized, but this is a huge misconception. Who really wants to stand behind a bar anyway? That being said, choosing to accent more travertine really ties it all together, again with built in glass shelving!
The last “Ticket Item” is a Basement Home Theatre
…..and what a beauty it is! Again you will see the same “Picasso” Travertine flowing throughout this modern space. The TV is flanked with some beautiful custom built cabinets to house all the goods.
To the right the clients have planned for a pool table and gym area. Leaving this space open so the kids can play, and the parents can mingle was the main objective.
