There are many possibilities when it comes to this aspect of your basement design. As always basement staircase ideas are all over the place. There are a plethora of designs, finishes, constructions to choose from, but what works best? We have found over the years the best way to answer that is to see the space in person and from there lend our experience and expertise to come up with the best suited design for your new space.
Typically we utilize our clients existing staircase. Our goal is to design your new basement space from its current entry point. There are instances where our clients have asked a new staircase be built in order to facilitate specific design requirements, and we are always happy to do so, however a brand new staircase can eat into anyone’s renovation budget very quickly. As construction continues on your new basement living space we address your staircase. We install our European rated laminate flooring to cover your existing stairs. We add an oak nose on the stairs that is finished in the same colour as the laminate. The oak nose on our stairs is key when it comes to longevity and durability of your staircase and protects the edge of the laminate. It also adds strength to your landing areas and helps with traction. The oak nose is more durable and can maintain its integrity through years of wear and tear.
